A Legacy of Nation Building

The roots of the National Cadet Corps can be traced back to the University Corps established in 1917. Over the years, it evolved through the University Training Corps and University Officers Training Corps. Following the recommendations of the H.N. Kunzru Committee, the Government of India established the National Cadet Corps under the NCC Act of 1948. The Corps was formally inaugurated on 15 July 1948.

From its early years, NCC was envisioned not merely as a military-training organisation, but as a platform for developing character, comradeship, discipline, leadership and a spirit of selfless service among the youth of India. The organisation has continued to evolve with changing times, placing strong emphasis on leadership, social service, adventure, personality development and responsible citizenship.

Today, NCC stands as one of India's largest uniformed youth organisations, connecting students from schools and colleges across the country and preparing young people to contribute positively to society and the nation.

NCC at Gyan Jyoti P.G. College

At Gyan Jyoti P.G. College, NCC is an important avenue for learning beyond the conventional classroom. Through regular training, parade, physical activities, camps, competitions and community-oriented programmes, cadets learn the importance of discipline, punctuality, teamwork and responsibility.

The NCC experience teaches students to face challenges with confidence. A cadet learns to lead as well as follow, to work individually as well as as part of a team, and most importantly, to understand that achievement comes through dedication, discipline and consistent effort.

The commitment and hard work of our cadets have also translated into achievements at competitive platforms.

Recently, two NCC cadets of Gyan Jyoti P.G. College participated in a Guard Competition and secured Gold 🥇 and Silver 🥈 medals, bringing honour to the institution.

This achievement is not only a matter of medals; it reflects the discipline, coordination, training and determination that NCC seeks to instil in every cadet.
